Calling Up our Seasonal Staff
With the unique nature of supply chains in the modern e-commerce age, SunFrog is able to manage a dynamic workforce throughout the year. By taking the care to build a business that can operate with as few as 70 team members, and at other times 250 or more team members, SunFrog can stay nimble and efficient and never puts itself in the risky position of having too much staff on hand “hoping” for business.
Investments in facilities and equipment create strategic advantages for SunFrog.
Today, SunFrog’s business cycle is very similar to most retailers, which makes sense as they supply merchandise and apparel. That means that the busy season for SunFrog is September through mid-December, but especially November - December.
SunFrog combines a few different strategies to help prepare for this so that the company can always maintain its standards of excellence.
The recruiting team at SunFrog is accepting applications year-round. They are clear that many roles are seasonal, but they work to build a roster of potential seasonal team members who can come on at key times.
As early as June and July, SunFrog’s HR team begins onboarding seasonal help. This allows a steady influx of workers that can be trained correctly and start working the equipment. Rather than bring on 150 new production workers at once, the swell is managed, trained, and controlled.
The team is also still able to work on one shift. The key difference in production is that during the peak season, the lines will run for 10 hours a day, rather than eight. But with the combination of utilizing full-production capacity and an expanded team, SunFrog can keep up with demand, creating a seamless experience for its customers.
